7 tips to protect your passwords
Why securing passwords is so important?
Your password is the gate to your account, and criminals are looking to steal your password and access your accounts to commit fraud. It's important to use highly secure passwords for all your accounts.
How to protect your password?
Here are 7 tips to help you secure your password:
- Select a strong password
Make your password at least 10 characters long. The most secure passwords combine letters, numbers and special characters.
- Make your password harder to guess
Avoid using known passwords such as "P@ssw0rd" or "123456". Also, avoid using personal information in your password, such as your birthday, child's name, phone number, and address.
- Change your password periodically
Change your passwords at least once every 6 months. If you notice any suspicious activities on your account, the first thing to do is changing your account's password.
- Sharing is not caring
Avoid sharing your password with others, even your family members. INVESTBANK will never ask for your password or any other sensitive information.
- Never write down your password
Avoid writing down your password. Instead, memorize your password and PIN or use a password manager application.
- Create a unique password for each account
Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts or websites; If attackers steal your account information from one site, all your other accounts will be at risk.
- Use multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Activate multi-factor authentication whenever available. MFA requires both a password and a one-time code generated by an app or sent to your phone number. iBank provides MFA to secure your financial transactions and protect your accounts if criminals capture your password.
