INVESTBANK sustains its organic farming projectby embracing more beneficiaries on board

Thursday, April 26, 2018

INVESTBANK, the leader in providing innovative banking solutions, with its managing partner of the organic farming project in Ajloun, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), haveexpanded the scope of beneficiaries, following the success of the initial collaboration with the RSCN launched in 2011 that resulted in the birth of Al Shams Farmers’ Market.

This success has prompted INVESTBANK to further expand the reach of the project, partnering with community-based organization Um Al Yanabee to train a wider range of farmers to adopt the same progressive business model.

Over the course of six years, INVESTBANK supported the training of farmers on the best practices for growing, packaging and marketing chemical-free produce, providing organic seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, water tanks and other equipment that enabled farmers to significantly boost their production while paving the way for new marketing channels. The result was an impressive 40 percent increase in production and a 46 percent increase in sales, with more than 1,300 direct and indirect parties benefitting from the endeavor.

“Al Shams Farmers’ Market is considered one of the most unprecedented success stories in Jordan’s organic farming landscape,” commented INVESTBANK CEO, Muntaser Dawwas. “The project has allowed us to establish one of Jordan’s pioneering organic farmers’ market and to turn it into a revenue-generating venture for the farmers involved, which has prompted us to expand the concept to deliver the same benefits to more beneficiaries. The expansion of our partnership with RSCN and our new collaboration with Um Al Yanabee will help us achieve this objective.”

The Director General of RSCN, Yehya Khalid, underscored the organization’s sustainable partnership with INVESTBANK under the organic farming project and the ongoing efforts to expand the array of projects to bring direct and indirect benefits to local communities in Ajloun. These projects, he explained, help realize a significant part of RSCN’s vision of developing local communities within and around nature reserves managedby RSCN.

Khalid also commended the kind of support offered by private sector organizations like INVESTBANK, which play a crucial role in the implementation of programs geared toward Nature conservationand developing local communities.

Established in 2011, Um Al Yanabee is a women’s organization whose mission is to empower local women and families and bolster their resilience to economic and social challenges. With INVESTBANK’s support, the organization’s beneficiaries will have access to the tools and knowledge required to cultivate environmentally-conscious and healthy produce that caters to the growing demand for chemical-free produce in the Kingdom.

This support falls in line with INVESTBANK’s Sun Fund social responsibility strategy, a core component of which is to promote more eco-conscious and healthful lifestyles for the benefit of current and future generations.
