INVESTBANK and Princess Alia Foundation partners to Recycle for Education

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

INVESTBANK, the leading bank in providing innovative banking solutions, has partnered with the Princess Alia Foundation and Jordanian environmental awareness company BE Environmental Services to further facilitate the recycling of paper waste at its headquarters and branches and the delivery of new paper reams to understocked schools in Jordan.

Under the agreement, INVESTBANK will streamline the collection and shredding of paper waste, which will be delivered to BE’s at no cost. The proceeds of the sold recycling papers help the Princess Alia Foundation to facilitate providing new A4 reams to schools in remote areas nationwide, which suffer from paper supply shortages.

“Working together on this innovative and sustainable programme, we hope to be able to support the educational system as well as spread the much needed awareness on the importance of recycling and our responsibility towards the environment”. Said HH. Sarra Ghazi, Princess Alia Foundation CEO.

“This agreement has a dual social cause as it falls in line with INVESTBANK’s unwavering commitment to lead new and innovative programs to protect the environment and minimize the waste of precious resources, it also supports local public schools in need of supplies” commented INVESTBANK’s CEO, Muntaser Dawwas. “Since the production of paper is one of the leading contributors to deforestation, we believe businesses and organizations have a responsibility to play a part in addressing this mounting issue and to establish stricter guidelines with regards to the recycling and reuse of paper in their workflows.”

With this agreement, INVESTBANK will further broaden its longstanding efforts to minimize paper waste at its HQ and branches, in addition to repurposing defunct paper resources toward the local education sector, which must contend with limited supplies to increased demand and insufficient resources.

Since its inception, INVESTBANK has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility and to making a lasting positive impact on the lives of different segments of the local community. A key focus of INVESTBANK’s efforts is to promote environmental preservation for the benefit of future generations, with initiatives that focus on promoting local organic farming, efficient resource management and renewable energy.

In 2016, INVESTBANK modified the power grid of its headquarters after installing a series of photovoltaic panels, which currently supply up to 65 percent of its power requirements. The bank is currently exploring strategies to utilize renewable energy at its various branches around the kingdom.
